Power in ≠ Power out!

The power you generate doesn’t all make it to your rear wheel. There are of course drivetrain losses, but there’s not much to be done about them aside from having a clean and well lubricated drivetrain. More importantly, there are significant losses in how you apply power to your pedals. These pedaling losses are what we call lost watts.

As we get fitter, every next FTP watt becomes harder to achieve. Getting the next few watts may mean many more hours of training. Working on your pedaling technique however allows you to recover these lost watts in much less time. Want to see what the data shows us? Have a look here.

Introducing a powerful analysis tool

Previously, the only tool available to quantify pedaling was the power meter which samples typically at 1 sample per second. At a cadence of 90rpm, each revolution takes less than a second. It’s therefore not possible to provide any insights into what your legs are doing in relation to the pedal path in each pedal stroke.

Now imagine looking into each pedal stroke in high resolution. We track what your feet are doing 20 times per second which reveals very important information. Learn more here.

How we use this new tool

By displaying the data in real-time, we use biofeedback and one on one coaching to identify where losses occur. Armed with this knowledge, we can start to work on improvements to regain those lost watts. You can also import Garmin FIT files to compare power, heart rate and cadence data next to our data.
